SWEET BABY JANE (Kingmambo), the dam of 2009 American Derby (G2) winner Reb

(Stormy Atlantic), brought a final bid of $35,000 to lead all offerings at

Wednesday's open session of the two-day Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's Fall

Mixed Sale in Ocala, Florida. Consigned by Ramsey Farm, agent, she was purchased

by Off the Hook, agent for Farm III.

A winner in three of 21 starts with earnings of $94,175, Sweet Baby Jane

counted Reb as her first foal and has subsequently produced four offspring by

Kitten's Joy. She toured the ring as Hip No. 613 but was not offered in foal.

Produced by Sweet and Dandee (Pass the Line), Sweet Baby Jane is a

half-sister to multiple stakes winner Fiery Lake (Devil His Due) and the

stakes-placed Amandy (Lil's Lad). Sweet and Dandee herself is a half-sister to

multiple Grade 1 winner and sire Jolie's Halo (Halo), Grade 2 winner Cougarized

(*Cougar II), and multiple stakes winners Pleasant Jolie (Pleasant Colony) and

Mister Jolie (Valid Appeal). This is the family of multiple Grade 1 winner

Southern Image (Halo's Image).

Wednesday's business posted slight declines off the corresponding session a

year. A gross of $863,700 was realized from the sale of 180 head, a decline of

1.6 percent over 2009 when $877,800 was generated from the sale of 168 horses.

The session average declined 8.2 percent, from $5,225 to $4,798.

Due to strong business at Tuesday's Consignor Preferred session, the two-day

auction posted substantial gains. Overall, 346 horses sold for $3,463,900, a

rise of 47.7 percent above last year when 300 head brought $2,345,700. The sale

average spiked 28 percent, from $10,011 to $7,819.
