California Chrome "looked awesome" in Sat

work; graded results from Aqueduct, Churchill

2014 Horse of the Year and Kentucky Derby (G1) winner California Chrome returned

to the worktab for trainer Art Sherman on Saturday morning at Los Alamitos.

The four-year-old chestnut officially logged a half-mile in :26.60, but was

caught by Sherman in :25.

Much later in the day in New York,

Goldy Espony (Vespone) brightened up Aqueduct with a 1 1/4-length victory in the

$200,000 Long Island H. (G3). With jockey Kendrick Carmouche aboard, the

Chad Brown-trained four-year-old miss wired the 1 1/2-mile, firm turf

Long

Island in 2:31.10 as the 3-1 second choice.

Spelling Again (Awesome Again) followed up her win the $100,000 Open Mind in

September with another Churchill Downs success in the $200,000 Chilukki (G2).

Shaun Bridgmohan was aboard the 3-1 chance, who captured the one-mile

Chilukki by 4

1/2 lengths in a time of 1:35.75.
