Kentucky Derby and Preakness hero California Chrome is scheduled to arrive at

Parx on Tuesday at approximately 3 p.m. (EDT) for his engagement in the $1

million Pennsylvania Derby next Saturday, September 20. The seven-time stakes

winner will make his first start since dead-heating for fourth in the June 7

Belmont Stakes.

A win in the 1 1/8-mile, Grade 2 event would assist in his bid to be named

champion three-year-old male of 2014.

Owned by Steve Coburn and Perry Martin, the Lucky Pulpit colt has been

working regularly at his Los Alamitos base since early August for trainer Art

Sherman. California Chrome most recently drilled six furlongs in a bullet 1:10

1/5 on September 6.

Post position draw for the Pennsylvania Derby will take place in the track's

Cotillion Room on Monday afternoon.

Possible rivals include Haskell Invitational winner Bayern; Tapiture and

Candy Boy, the one-two finishers in the August 2 West Virginia Derby; and

Protonico, who provided trainer Todd Pletcher with his 1,000th stakes victory

when capturing the Smarty Jones at Parx on September 1.
