Cape Town colt, Mr. Greeley filly highlight Tuesday session

A colt by Cape Town sold for the top price of $260,000 to Masha Naify at

Tuesday's eighth session of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale in Lexington,

Kentucky. Cataloged as Hip No. 2745, the dark bay colt is out of Grade 3-placed

Proper Dance (Nureyev), a full sister to Group 1-placed stakes producer Dancing

Tribute and Grade 3-placed Private Interview, and a half-sister to 1999 Jerome

H. (G2) winner Doneraile Court (Seattle Slew).

The co-session topper was consigned by Brandywine Farm (Jim and Pam Robinson),

agent for Liberation Farm (Rob Whiteley) and Brandywine.

Also selling for $260,000 was Hip 2873, a filly by Mr. Greeley. Tom Gentry,

agent, signed the sales ticket on the chestnut lass, who was consigned by

Highclere Sales, agent.

The filly is the first foal out of the unraced Touch Gold mare Wild Crazy

Lady, a half-sister to multiple Grade 3 winner Hot Novel (Mari's Book), the dam

of Grade 1 winner and $3.2 million-earner Behrens (Pleasant Colony). Wild Crazy

Lady is also a half-sister to Grade 3 winner Legislator (Royal Academy) and

multiple stakes winner Makinanhonestbuck (Spend a Buck).

On Tuesday, 286 horses sold for $15,969,400, an increase of 5.6 percent

compared to the same session last year when 294 horses brought $15,115,500. The

average price rose 8.6 percent, from $51,413 to $55,837, while the median price

remained unchanged at $40,000.

Thus far, 1,983 horses have realized $340,060,600, a decrease of 6.9 percent

compared to 2006 when 2,023 horses changed hands for $365,071,000. The average

price is down 5 percent, from $180,460 to $171,488. The median price, however,

is up 11.1 percent, from $90,000 to $100,000.
