Catch a Flight rallies for San Diego 'Cap victory
Haras Santa Maria de Araras Inc.'s Catch a Flight (Giant's Causeway) came
running late in Saturday's $200,500
Diego H. (G2) at Del Mar to post a head score under jockey Gary Stevens.
The Richard Mandella-trained five-year-old bided his time in third while
reigning Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) winner Bayern (Offlee Wild) battled it out
with Appealing Tale (Tale of the Cat) up front. Given his cue in the lane, the
Argentinean-bred bay powered home to finish 1 1/16 miles over the fast main
track in 1:43.08.
Appealing Tale retained second-place honors, while Bayern just beat out
stablemate Hoppertunity (Any Given Saturday) in third.
