Certify among 11 remaining in Fillies' Mile
Godolphin aims for a third consecutive victory in the Group 1, £163,500
Fillies' Mile with Certify going for the highlight of the second day of the
Cambridgeshire Festival at Newmarket this upcoming Friday. The Mahmood Al
Zarooni-trained filly is one of the ante-post favorites for next year's Group 1
One Thousand Guineas, back at Newmarket, following three impressive victories
that included a cozy neck success in the Group 2 May Hill over a mile at
Doncaster on September 14.
Certify comfortably beat subsequent Group 1 scorer Sky Lantern in the Group 3
Sweet Solera over seven furlongs of Newmarket's July Course on August 11 and won
decisively on debut in a six-furlong maiden at Newmarket's July Festival.
"Certify did a nice, easy piece of work (Saturday) morning and we are
hopefully aiming her towards Newmarket," trainer Mahmood Al Zarooni revealed.
"We have the option of staying close to home or going to France for the (Group
1) Prix Marcel Boussac the following week. The decision is based mainly on how
she came out of her run at Doncaster and she is in good form at the moment.
"Certify showed that she is a good filly in the May Hill Stakes because she
kicked off a slow pace. It's usually not very easy to win from behind if there
is no pace and she still showed a little bit of greenness. She is learning with
her racing and I hope that she will be better on her next outing. She is
improving all of the time and seems to go on any ground."
Ollie Olga has yet to taste defeat in three starts for Mick Channon and the
daughter of Stormy Atlantic has also beaten Sky Lantern, finishing a half-length
in front of that filly in the seven-furlong Group 3 Prestige at Goodwood in
August.
Roz, representing Harry Dunlop, and the Sir Mark Prescott-trained Savanna La
Mar came home first and second, respectively, in a seven-furlong Listed contest
at Sandown in July, while Winsili, from the stable of John Gosden, has been
supplemented for £15,000 after taking second to Godolphin's Lovely Pass in a
mile Ascot conditions race on September 8.
Agent Allison was runner-up in the six-furlong Group 3 Albany at Royal Ascot
for Peter Chapple-Hyam and the Aidan O'Brien-trained Magical Dream also boasts
good form in Pattern company, having finished fourth in the Group 1 Moyglare
Stud, won by Sky Lantern, on September 9 at the Curragh.
French Listed scorer Discernable, from the stable of Mark Johnston, Prestige
third Amazonas, representing Ed Dunlop, and the Clive Brittain-trained pair of
Masarah and Sinaadi complete the 11 going forward for the Fillies' Mile.
The eight-race card on Friday also features the Group 3, £100,000 Joel Stakes
and the 19 confirmations for the mile contest include Group 1 St James's Palace
victor Most Improved and Group 2 Summer Mile scorer Fanunalter.
Moyglare Stud runner-up Scintillula could take her chance in the Group 3,
£40,000 Oh So Sharp and the 20 juvenile fillies entered in the seven-furlong
contest also includes recent Newbury conditions race scorer Penny Rose and
seven-length maiden winner Power of Light.
Group 2 Windsor Forest heroine Joviality heads 23 fillies and mares entered
in the mile £33,000 Rosemary Stakes.
