Pamela C. Ziebarth's HEALTHY ADDICTION (Boston Harbor) tracked in second

during Sunday's $300,000

Clement L. Hirsch H. (G2) at Del Mar, was roused by jockey Victor Espinoza

in the stretch and easily held off the rally of Happy Ticket (Anet) to post a 1

3/4-length victory as the 7-2 co-second choice. Trained by John Sadler, the

five-year-old mare was worth $9, $3.40 and $2.40.

Maryfield (Elusive Quality) would not be denied pacesetting duties, surging

to the front when the gates opened with Healthy Addiction, Star Parade (Arg)

(Parade Marshal) and Happy Ticket fanned to her outside rounding the first

turn. Everyone maintained their positions as Maryfield posted fractions of :23

and :46 3/5 along the backstretch. Heading into the far turn, Healthy

Addiction was the first to go after the longtime leader, taking over through six

furlongs in 1:11, and from there it was just a matter of who would try to take

her on.

That proved to be Happy Ticket, but the game mare, who was making her first

start on the West Coast, couldn't get to the eventual winner, who pulled off to

complete 1 1/16 miles on the fast dirt in 1:42 4/5.

As the even-money favorite, Happy Ticket paid $2.80 and $2.20 while finishing

the $12 exacta ($1). Star Parade was another 1 1/2 lengths behind, returning

$2.80 at 4-1 and ending the $37 trifecta ($1). Hollywood Story (Wild Rush), who

was content to trail in last through the opening fractions, rallied for fourth, three lengths ahead

of Maryfield. Somethinaboutlaura (Dance Floor) was withdrawn.

Healthy Addiction, winner of last year's Osunitas H. and Adoration S. at Del

Mar, started off 2006 in style, taking the Paseana S. by two lengths, before

running fourth in the Santa Maria H. (G1). She returned to annex the Santa

Margarita Invitational H. (G1) at Santa Anita, and posted a third in the

Hawthorne H. (G3) and second in the Vanity Invitational H. (G1) in her two

starts prior to this one. The dark bay mare boosted her earnings to $882,837 to

go along with her 21-9-6-1 record.

Bred in Kentucky by Sequel 98, Healthy Addiction is out of the Gone West mare

Lady Laika, making her a half-sister to five-time stakes victress Arch Lady

(Arch), multiple stakes-placed Langoureuse (Gilded Time), an unnamed yearling

Cat Thief filly and an unnamed 2006 colt by Medaglia d'Oro. Healthy Addiction

sold for $100,000 as a Keeneland September yearling.
