Collier Hill withdrawn from Sheema

Grade/Group 1 winner COLLIER HILL (GB) (Dr. Devious [Ire]) has been forced

to withdraw from Saturday's $5 million Dubai Sheema Classic (UAE-G1) because of

a shoe problem, trainer Alan Swinbank said. The nine-year-old gelding, who

placed in the last two editions of the 1 1/2-mile turf test, captured the

Canadian International S. (Can-G1) and Hong Kong Vase (HK-G1) in his latest

outings.

"He's had a shoe problem for the last two weeks," Swinbank said. "It's always

the same with these hiccups. It was worse in Hong Kong than it is here. It's

hard to train at this level and keep them right. Over the last year, he has

competed at the highest level. He's won his last two group races, so he owes us

nothing."

In the wake of Collier Hill's withdrawal, 13 horses are now set to line up in

the Sheema.
