Conquest Stables obtain top two at Fasig-Tipton

The Ontario-bred HOT HUMOR (Distorted Humor) brought a final bid of $500,000 from

Conquest Stables at Tuesday's second session of the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall

Yearlings Sales. Offered by Hill 'n' Dale Sales Agency, agent, the March 2 colt

sported Hip No. 384.

Hot Humor is a three-quarter brother to A Bit O'Gold, an earner of $1.78

million during a career that saw him honored as Canadian Horse of the Year in

2005 and that country's champion three-year-old colt in 2004; Grade 3-placed

stakes winner and Canadian classic-placed Arco's Gold; and the stakes-placed Adjalah. All are sons of Gold Fever.

Their dam, Canadian Broodmare of the Year Annasan (Corporate Report), is a

half-sister to Grade 3 winner Goldseeker Bud (Smile) and the Grade 1-placed

multiple stakes winner Ashboro (Regal Classic).

Conquest Stables also secured a Horse Greeley half-sister to recent

Alcibiades S. (G1) winner My Conquestadory (Artie Schiller) for $320,000. Hip

736 was consigned by Paul Tackett.

Undefeated from two starts, My Conquestadory has earned $355,908 while

winning both the Alcibiades and the Summer S. (Can-G2) against males. Both she

and the yearling filly, an April 18 Kentucky-bred, were produced by the multiple

stakes-placed Golden Artemis (Malibu Moon) and are from the family of multiple

Grade 2 winner Kelly Kip (Kipper Kelly).

A filly from the first crop of multiple Grade 1 winner Eskendereya was

gaveled down to Justin Casse, agent, for $245,000. Hip 713 was consigned by

Denali Stud (Craig & Holly Bandoroff), agent.

The March 2 Florida-bred is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Icy Atlantic

(Stormy Atlantic) and the Grade 3-wininning Wild Promises (Wild Event). This

extended family is responsible for multiple Grade 1 winners Jolie's Halo (Halo),

Southern Image (Halo's Image) and Turbo Compressor (Halo's Image).

Stoneway Farm purchased a daughter of Smart Strike for $210,000. Hip 598 was

offered by Eaton Sales, agent for Grousemont Farm.

The May 1 Kentucky-bred was produced by the winning Dangerous Diva (Deputy

Minister), a daughter of Grade 2-placed stakes winner Go to the Ink (Crafty

Prospector) from the family of Grade 2 winner Indian Firewater (Indian Charlie).

At the conclusion of trading on Tuesday, 273 yearlings had realized

$10,025,400, a rise of 25.8 percent over the corresponding session in 2012 when

$7,968,900 was grossed from the sale of 297 head. The session average increased

36.9 percent, from $26,831 to $36,723, while the median rose 28.6 percent, from

$14,000 to $18,000.

With two days in the books, 531 horses have sold for $17,383,400, an increase

of 14.2 percent over this time last year when 591 yearlings had sold for

$15,219,100. The average is up 27.1 percent, from $25,751 to $32,737. The

current median is $17,000.
