Coolmore spends more than $1.9 million for Frankel foal and

dam

A three-month old foal fathered by Frankel continued his sire's success story

when selling for a staggering £1,150,000 ($1,952,631) at Goffs inaugural London

Sale at Kensington Palace on Monday.

The unnamed colt, consigned by Tweenhills Farm and Stud, was sold to M.V.

Magnier of Coolmore together with his dam, Crystal Gaze, who is expecting her

second foal from Frankel next year.

Frankel retired to stud in 2012 after winning all 14 of his races. He now

commands a fee of £125,000 for each mare that is sent to him and some experts

estimate him to be worth £125 million.

"As he is such a smashing foal and she is a lovely mare, I am very sad to see

the pair go. However, we are delighted with interest it has generated and what

it has done for the industry," said David Redvers, Managing Director of

Tweenhills.

The buyer, M.V. Magnier of Coolmore, said: "We've really enjoyed tonight sale

and are delighted to have bought a such lovely a mare and foal. The Coolmore

team really like the look of the colt and we're excited for the future."
