Danehill filly leads the way at Goffs

Last updated: 2/13/08 7:23 PM

Goffs' February Sale continued Wednesday with Dermot Farrington securing the

session's topper for 100,000. Consigned as Hip No. 611 by Seskin Stud, the

four-year-old filly Love to Boogie (Danehill) was sold as a broodmare prospect.

She is a half to the 1996 Prix de l'Abbaye (Fr-G1) heroine Kistena (Fr) (Miswaki),

dam of stakes winner Tompest . Her dam is a half to the listed scorer Majinskaya

(Marignan), who produced champion Danaskaya (Danehill) and multiple listed

winner Modeeroch (Mozart [Ire]), as well as the very smart Ballydoyle runner

Chinese Whisper.

"She's a nice filly from a very good pedigree and made a lot of appeal as a

Danehill half-sister to a Group 1 winner," Farrington said. "I've bought her for

myself and I'm not sure what I'm going to do with her, it's possible that she

could go down to Australia. One of the reasons I bought her is that she is from

a young family. The mare is a half-sister to Majinskaya, who seems to produce a

good horse every season and there are now several of her daughters breeding

away. I also bought a Cadeaux Genereux filly out of Majinskaya for a client of

mine at the Tattersalls December Sale."

Bobby O'Ryan purchased the highest-priced yearling on the day when he secured

the sole Johannesburg offering in the catalogue for 52,000. Consigned by John P.

Jones as Hip 560, the March-foaled colt is out of a half to the multiple stakes

winner Strawberry Morn from the extended family of Herecomesthebride (Runaway

Groom) and Rosy Spectre (Nijinsky II).

The sale concludes on Thursday. Full results are available on www.goffs.com.
