Danetime filly tops Goffs Wednesday session

Last updated: 11/15/06 6:25 PM

Goffs' November Sale continued its momentum on Wednesday, when the heat was turned

up

during the third foal session courtesy of the 125,000 sum paid for a filly by

Danetime.

Consigned by Oghill House Stud as agent, Hip 503 is out of a half to listed

scorer Head

Over Heels (Ire) (Pursuit of Love) from the family of last year's Irish One

Thousand Guineas (Ire-G1) runner-up Penkenna

Princess (Pivotal) and was knocked down to Tim Hyde Jr.

"She's a beauty and all

racehorse," Hyde

said.

BBA Ireland later went to 90,000 to secure Hip 609, a daughter of Green

Desert from

the draft of Peter Kavanagh's Kildaragh Stud. She is out of dual listed

scorer Petit Calva

(Desert King), who is a half-sister to Queen Elizabeth II Invitational Challenge

Cup S. (G1) runner-up Mauralakana (Fr) (Muhtathir), and hails from the family of the

top-class globe-trotter Jim and Tonic (Fr) (Double Bed [Fr]). John Tyrrell was buying the filly on behalf of a

French client.

Matching that price tag was Hip 650, a daughter of Noverre who fell to Ruairi

O'Coileain's

Ennistown Stud. Herbertstown Stud's offering is from the family of champion Shergar

(Great Nephew), which includes this year's Gran Premio di Milano (Ity-G1) heroine, Shamdala (Grand

Lodge).

Coolmore's

One Cool Cat

has his first foals at the sales this fall, and he was responsible for the

top-priced colt of the

session. Ballinamona House's Hip 475, who is from the family of Scorpion (Ire) (Montjeu

[Ire]),

was

purchased by Paul Shanahan for 80,000.

Wednesday's average was up more than 35

percent on

2005, spurring a huge hike in the gross from 2,464,500 to 4,197,000. The upturn

also

prompted a 13.3 percent increase in the average over the three days, with the

two best days of the foal sale yet to come.

Selling continues Thursday afternoon. Full
