Last updated: 10/17/15 7:14 PM

Dawalan (Azamour) threw his hat into the ring for champion steeplechaser

consideration Saturday when he prevailed by a length in the $300,000 Grand

National (NSA) at Far Hills, New Jersey, the richest jump event of the season.

Owned by Irv Naylor, trained by Cyril Murphy, and ridden by Ross Geraghty,

Dawalan completed 2 5/8 miles in 4:54 1/5.

Dawalan could move on now to the $100,000 Colonial Cup (NSA-G1) at Camden,

South Carolina, on November 2, where he could potentially face Bob Le Beau (Big

Bad Bob) for Eclipse Award honors. Bob Le Beau defeated Dawalan in last month's

Lonesome Glory (NSA-G1) at Belmont Park, which marked Dawalan's U.S. debut.
