Daytona tops Doncaster sale

National Hunt buyers were again at the fore as records fell across the board

at Doncaster Bloodstock Sales' (DBS) one-day Lincoln Handicap sale on Wednesday.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's recent Lingfield maiden winner DAYTONA

(Ire) (Indian Ridge) secured top lot honors when knocked down to Wales-based

jumps trainer Peter Bowen for 56,000 guineas. Offered by Mark Johnston's

Kingsley House Stables as Lot No. 93, the three-year-old gelding has hit the

board in all three starts to date and could be something of a bargain compared

to his 360,000 price tag at Goffs' 2005 Orby Sale.

New records were set for average and median while the turnover, up a massive

104 percent on last year, also registered an all-time high.

"The Lincoln Handicap Sales has gone from strength to strength in recent

years and we have enjoyed a record breaking trade in 2007," DBS Managing

Director Henry Beeby said. "There has been a multitude of buyers at all levels

of the market for the horses we cataloged and the strength and depth is clearly

illustrated by the average price, which has risen by 65 percent since last year

-- and we were pleased with last year! We now look forward to our Breeze-Up

Sales on April 3-5 with great confidence."
