Dortmund out of San Pasqual; Dolphus possible for Lecomte

Last updated: 1/3/16 8:48 PM

Just as one horse was removed from consideration for a race, another entered

the conversation, though for an entirely different contest.

Dortmund put in his final major move for next Saturday's $200,000 San Pasqual S.

(G2) at Santa Anita Park on Sunday, clocking seven furlongs in 1:25.80, but

trainer Bob Baffert wasn't impressed and indicated the chestnut would not go in

the 1 1/16-mile affair.

Cross-country in New Orleans, trainer Joe Sharp announced that

Dolphus, a half-brother to Horse of the Year and Preakness S. (G1) winner Rachel

Alexandra, is possible for the Lecomte S. (G3) on January 16. The colt

drilled a half-mile at the track Saturday in :50.40.

In other news on Sunday, Prize Exhibit returned to the winner's circle with a

nose score in the $201,500 Monrovia S. (G2) at Santa Anita Park.
