Dream Bet fails to pay on Mucho Macho Man
Dave Flores, the winner of the $100,000 Derby Dream Bet Sweepstakes, staked
his prize on Mucho Macho Man (Macho Uno). His choice ran a valiant race to get
up for third, but since the sweepstakes requires a win wager only, his effort
did not yield any financial dividends for the Chicago man.
Flores, who works in a metal manufacturing shop, said that he "never misses"
the Kentucky Derby (G1). He estimates that he attended America's most storied
race at least 20 times. He met his fiancé, a Louisville native, at the Kentucky
Oaks (G1) four years ago,
Although Flores didn't collect on his Dream Bet, he still enjoyed a VIP trip
for two to the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks, including airfare, lodging and
ground transportation.
The Derby Dream Bet Sweepstakes was offered for the second consecutive year,
thanks to a partnership between Churchill Downs and NBC Sports. Last year, Glen
Fullerton of Houston won $900,000 when Super Saver won the Kentucky Derby at
odds of 8-1.
