Eddie Delahoussaye will be honored in a special winner's circle ceremony at

Santa Anita on March 5. Delahoussaye, who retired two years ago with 6,384

career victories, is widely regarded as one of the most popular jockeys in the

track's history. He won 1,453 races at Santa Anita, including 159 stakes races.

Delahoussaye rode two Santa Anita Derby (G1) winners, including 1992 Horse of

the Year A.P. Indy. He won back-to-back runnings of the Kentucky Derby (G1) in

1982 and 1983, and was inducted into racing's Hall of Fame in 1993. In addition,

his success earned him the George Woolf Memorial Jockey Award in 1981.

His final Santa Anita victory was aboard Ringaskiddy (Slewvescent) in the San

Juan Capistrano Invitational H. (G1) on April 21, 2002. He sustained head and

neck injuries four months later in a spill at Del Mar, an accident that hastened

his retirement.

The ceremony, scheduled for the afternoon of the $1 million Santa Anita H.

(G1), will include guest speakers and a special video tribute by Director of

Broadcasting Amy J. Zimmerman.

"I'm not into honors and all that stuff," said Delahoussaye, who was known

for his cool and technical approach to riding. "It's going to be nice,

especially to see the fans, but you know me. I don't like all that attention."

Delahoussaye, 53, has lived in Arcadia, California, for 25 years and now

works as a bloodstock agent.
