Fair Grounds cancels
Fair Grounds canceled the final five races on Thursday due to extreme
weather. Live racing is scheduled to resume at the New Orleans track on Friday.
"Safety, both for equine and humans, is always going to take first priority,"
Fair Grounds President Randy Soth said.
Fair Grounds issued rain checks to its clubhouse customers, and live racing
programs for Thursday's card can be exchanged for a program on any other day of
the meet.
Sam Abbey, director of racing, said Thursday's canceled races would be
brought back as extra races as soon as possible.
