Fastnet Rock colt highlights second session

Last updated: 5/31/07 7:48 PM

With only a few lots left to go through the ring at Thursday's second session

of the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale in Bundall, Queensland, a handsome

colt by Fastnet Rock brought a high bid of A$370,000 to top the day.

Magic Millions, agent, was listed as the buyer of the weanling and

conditioner Gerald Ryan will train the colt for a good stable client. Consigned by

Glastonbury Farm, agent, Lot No. 809 is out of the unraced Scenic (Ire) mare Bumps.

"His dam has done the job by producing two stakes horses and he's by the

sire that many are tipping to be the start of the first seasoners," said Ryan,

explaining the colt's immediate appeal.

The weanling was a member of the quality

supplementary draft which included Wednesday's record-setting Redoute's Choice

colt, who sold for A$1.15-million.

"He was the best horse in the sale in

my opinion," Ryan said. "He's strong, sound, mature, correct and is a great

type."

At the conclusion of the second day of selling, statistics were well over

2006 figures, and the good ones continued to bring top dollar, with a record 42

weanlings realizing over six figures.

"There's no doubt you'd be paying a lot

more for him as a yearling," he said. "On the market, we are delighted to be

able to buy him."

The final session offering weanlings -- the general

portion -- commences Friday morning.
