Fillies blaze in second OBS under tack session
Fillies blaze in second OBS under tack session
A gray filly by Exchange Rate sped one furlong in :9 4/5 on
Monday, the fastest work at the distance on the second day of the under tack
show for the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's March Sale of Selected
Two-Year-Olds in Training. The Florida-bred filly, cataloged as Hip No. 276,
hails from the consignment of Niall Brennan Stables, agent, and is out of the
winning Dispersal mare, Disperse a Star, who is a half-sister to the multiple
black-type earner South Vigorous (End Sweep), who was based throughout his
career in Japan. Disperse a Star has already produced two winners from as many
to race.
The two-year-old filly previously sold for $70,000 at the 2007 OBS August
Yearling Sale.
Hip 448, a bay filly by Yonaguska, turned in the
fastest quarter-mile work of the session in :20 4/5. Consigned by Niall
Brennan Stables, agent for W.D. North and Niall Brennan Stables, the
Florida-bred juvenile is out of the winning Afternoon Deelites mare Noon Time
Dancer, who is out of the stakes-producing mare Dancing Naturally (Fred Astaire).
Noon Time Dancer has two stakes winning half-sisters, Indian War Dance and Bare
Dancer, who are both by Cherokee Run.
The Yonaguska miss previously fetched
$17,000 as a weanling at the 2006 OBS October Sale, and $37,000 at last
year's OBS
August auction.
The fastest three-furlong breeze of Tuesday's session, :33 3/5, belonged to another gray filly, who is part of the consignment
of Shadybrook Farm, agent. The Kentucky-bred daughter of Tapit is cataloged as Hip 440, and is out of the
multiple Grade 3-placed mare My White Corvette (Tarr Road). She is a
half-sister to two winners.
The filly previously sold for $50,000 at the 2007 Keeneland September
Yearling Sale.
The second under tack show, originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday, is
now consolidated into a single under tack preview on Saturday, beginning at 9
a.m. (EDT). The sale itself will take place on March 18 and 19, beginning at 11 a.m. each day.
