Finsceal Beo heads Irish One Thousand Guineas

Last updated: 5/22/07 7:03 PM

Michael Ryan's FINSCEAL BEO (Mr. Greeley) will face a maximum of 13 rivals

when she takes in her third Classic within a month in Sunday's One Thousand

Guineas (Ire-G1) at The Curragh. Successful in Newmarket's One Thousand Guineas

(Eng-G1) before a short-head defeat in the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (French

One Thousand Guineas) (Fr-G1) at Longchamp seven days later, the chestnut was

reported on course for the third leg of her Guineas triple by trainer Jim

Bolger.

"She is very well," Bolger told PA Sport. "In France, she couldn't show her

usual speed on the rain-softened ground and, hopefully, conditions will be more

in her favor on Sunday. If they stay as they are at present, it would be

grand."

John Oxx has declared Newmarket Guineas runner-up ARCH SWING

(Arch). Mick Channon is set to run TREAT

(Bareathea [Ire]), and Richard Hannon will send out INDIAN INK

(Indian Ridge), who were fourth and fifth, respectively, in the one-mile

Classic. Treat's connections are hoping for a reversal of the Newmarket form.

"She's in good form, she'll have a breeze tomorrow morning and, as long as

Mick is happy with her, she will head to Ireland," Highclere's Harry Herbert

told PA Sport. "She hasn't done a lot since Newmarket. She was in season last

week, so she had a easy time of it, but she will have a nice breeze tomorrow and

then it will be all systems go. Johnny Murtagh will ride her, and we think the

stiff mile of the Curragh will be to her advantage. Obviously, a bit of rain

will help her, but it doesn't look as if we are going to get any."

In other Guineas news:

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's HAATEF (Danzig) has been ruled out of

Saturday's Irish Two Thousand Guineas (Ire-G1) at The Curragh due to a minor

problem in his blood work. After finishing 10TH in Newmarket's Two Thousand

Guineas (Eng-G1) May 5, the homebred was being prepared for the Irish

equivalent, but trainer Kevin Prendergast revealed on Tuesday that he will miss

the gig.

"He has had a bit of a setback and will not run for a while," Prendergast

told PA Sport. "It is just a blood disorder, but we have no plans yet. We need

to get him right."
