First winner for Divine Park

Last updated: 7/14/12 9:54 PM

Grade 1 hero Divine Park registered his first winner when Cmonbabylitemyfire

held on by a neck in Saturday evening's

1ST

race at Assiniboia Downs. Sent off as the 3-5 favorite in the maiden special

weight, the Kentucky-bred filly vied early, inched away, and staved off the

renewed thrust by Douglass. Paul Nolan, who guided her to a near-miss second in

her debut, was once again in the saddle as she covered five fast-track furlongs

in 1:01.

Bred by Morris Floyd, Cmonbabylitemyfire was purchased for $2,000 as a Fasig-Tipton

Kentucky October yearling by trainer Ardell Sayler, who races her in partnership

with Off 2 Win. She is out of the unraced Dixie Union mare Lady Fairway, a close

relation to Grade 2-winning sire Hook and Ladder.

Sired by Chester House, Divine Park began his career with three straight

wins, capped by the Grade 3 Withers Stakes. At four, he compiled another

three-race winning streak. After prepping with a runaway win in the Grade 3

Westchester, Divine Park followed up with his signature score in the Grade 1

Metropolitan Handicap. He was retired with a 9-6-0-0 line and $612,935 in

earnings.

Divine Park was produced by the winning Ascot Knight mare High in the Park.

This is the family of multiple Grade 1 stars Sardula and Imperial Gesture as

well as Grade 3-winning Windrush, a successful sire in South Africa.

The eight-year-old stallion stands at Airdrie Stud near Midway, Kentucky, for

$10,000, live foal.
