Stakes winner WHEELAWAY (Unbridled) was represented by his first winner as a

freshman sire on Monday when his two-year-old daughter Twistaway won the 5TH

race at Belmont Park. Trained by John P. Terranova II and ridden by Eibar Coa,

the gray filly won the six-furlong maiden special weight race for New York-breds

by 5 3/4 lengths in 1:12 and returned $3.90 as the odds-on favorite.

At three, Wheelaway won the Tampa Bay Derby and finished third in the

Blue Grass S. (G1) prior to running fifth in the Kentucky Derby (G1). In what

turned out to be his final career start, he finished fourth in the Belmont S.

(G1). Wheelaway earned $249,760 from a record of 7-2-1-1.

The nine-year-old stallion, out of the winning Damascus mare Cuidado, stood

the 2006 breeding season for $6,000 live foal at McMahon of Saratoga

Thoroughbreds near Saratoga Springs, New York.
