Four added to Irish Derby

John Pearce's DRAGON DANCER (Sadler's Wells) has been given the green light

to line up in Sunday's Irish Derby (Ire-G1) after track conditions at The Curragh eased in favor of the

English Derby (Eng-G1) runner-up. Pearce supplemented the

bay sophomore at a cost of 100,000 as did connections of Prix du Jockey Club

(French Derby) (Fr-G1) hero DARSI (Polish Precedent) and Derby Italiano (Ity-G1)

winner GENTLEWAVE (Monsun). Joseph Joyce's COUGAR BAY (Daylami [Ire]) completes the quartet of

additions to the classic.

"Dragon Dancer is in good form," trainer Geoff Wragg told PA Sport, adding,

"He worked nicely (last) Saturday and I should think he'll travel over on

Friday. It's sure to be a competitive race though."

His Highness The Aga Khan's racing manager Georges Rimaud is also satisfied

with French Derby winner Darsi's progress and told Racing Post, "Everything has

gone well, the horse worked (Monday) morning and behaved very nicely. Everything

seems to be in order and he is in very good form. He is a quiet, very easy-going

horse who needs to be worked a couple of times a week just to keep him awake,

but he is quite easy to prepare. It would be a shame to miss running in the race

as he is in very, very good form and this is a good opportunity."

Sir Michael Stoute will send out PAPAL BULL (Montjeu [Ire]), winner of the

King Edward 7th S. (Eng-G2) at Royal Ascot, and BEST ALIBI (King's Best).

William Hill has made Darsi the 7-2 favorite, with Gentlewave and English

Derby third placer DYLAN THOMAS (Danehill) listed next at 5-1.

Track conditions at the County Kildare venue are currently described as

"good" and watering of the round course is set to resume Wednesday.
