Foxysox hopes Cushion Track is right fit in Bayakoa

Last updated: 12/1/06 8:02 PM

A full field of 14 distaffers will contest Sunday's $150,000 Bayakoa H. (G2),

and FOXYSOX (GB) (Foxhound) is the top draw for the 1 1/16-mile event. The

multiple Grade 3 winner is the lone U.S. graded winner in field, but the

sophomore filly has raced exclusively on turf so far in her career. She'll try

to carry her form forward over at Hollywood Park's Cushion Track.

Trained by Carla Gaines, Foxysox captured the Senorita S. (G3) and

Providencia S. (G3) earlier this season and finished second in the Honeymoon

Breeders' Cup H. (G2) in June. Two starts back, the chestnut lass finished a

fast-finishing third in the Del Mar Oaks (G1) (elevated to second via

disqualification). She never got on track after bobbling and bumping at the

start of the Queen Elizabeth II Invitational Challenge Cup S. (G1) last time

out, but the classy filly is eligible to rebound with a much improved showing in

Southern California if she handles the new surface.

Her challengers include last year's Chilean champion two-year-old filly TANTA

SUERTE (Chi) (Stuka), who exits a 2 1/2-length score in the Las Madrinas H. at

Fairplex Park; Chilean Group 3 queen DONA AMELIA (Chi) (Big Blue), who finished

a good second last out when making her U.S. debut for Eduardo Inda against a

tough allowance field at Santa Anita; SLEW PEG (Fusaichi Pegasus), who finished

third over the Polytrack in the Turfway Breeders' Cup S. (G3) most recently; and

Sixty Sails H. (G3) runner-up SILVER HIGHLIGHT (Silver Charm), who has invaded

Hollywood off two sharp performances over the synthetic track at Woodbine.

Multiple French stakes winner ROUND HEELS (Ire) (Daggers Drawn) will lead the

post parade under a 114-pound impost that includes Richard Migliore. Next comes

Tanta Suerte, David Flores, 117; STRONG FAITH (Pioneering), Martin Garcia, 115;

Foxysox, Victor Espinoza, 118; VAGUE (Elusive Quality), Corey Nakatani, 116;

BELLA BANISSA (Good and Tough), Jon Court, 113; RIVER SAVAGE (Brz) (First

American), Omar Berrio, 114; GINS MAJESTY (Go for Gin), Aaron Gryder, 116;

GHURRA (War Chant), Tyler Baze, 113; Dona Amelia, Jose Valdivia Jr., 115;

FREAKIN STREAKIN (Tactical Advantage), Michael Baze, 113; Slew Peg, Julien

Leparoux, 113; Silver Highlight, Garrett Gomez, 117; and NEUILLY (Brz) (Royal

Academy), Alex Solis, 116.
