Genuine Risk
Last after the break of Saturday's $150,000
Genuine Risk H. (G2), Robert Amendola's
BANK AUDIT (Wild Rush) ran near the back of the pack before closing with a rush
to take the six-furlong test by a nose over Sensibly Chic (Distorted Humor).
Sent off at 8-1, the four-year-old stopped the clock in 1:09 3/5 for the fast
track event and returned $18.80, $9 and $5.30.
With Norberto Arroyo Jr. in the irons, Bank Audit was outrun early and had to
settle for last after Forest Music (Unbridled's Song) carved out the opening
quarter in :21 2/5. That rival went on to drill the half in a rapid :43 4/5 and
five-eighths in :56 2/5 before tiring in the final furlong and finishing third.
Bank Audit was positioned four wide entering the stretch and was fourth, within
two lengths of the lead, with an eighth to go. Sensibly Chic lead briefly inside
the final sixteenth but could not hold off Bank Audit's late run as those two
surged to the wire, with the latter holding on by a narrow margin. They were 5
1/2 lengths clear of Forest Music, who in turn was one length ahead of Forty
Moves (Gold Fever).
The Frank LaBoccetta trainee started exotics of $146 for the exacta, $1,272
for the trifecta and $8,908 for the 7-6-4-5 superfecta with Forty Moves.
Sensibly Chic put in a valiant effort and gave back $9.60 and $5.50 at 9-1, and
Forest Music was worth $5.60 for the show. They were followed by Forty Moves,
Friendly Michelle (Artax), Travelator (A. P Jet), Smokey Glacken (Forestry),
Forestier (Forestry) and Lilah (Defrere). Elusive Diva (Elusive Quality) was
withdrawn.
Bred in Virginia by Morgan's Ford Farm, Bank Audit brought $52,000 as a
2002 Fasig-Tipton September yearling. Out of the stakes-winning Mosquera (Faraway Son), the dark bay improves her mark to 22-9-5-3 with earnings
of $444,261 after this win, which she adds to a resume that already includes
scores in the Distaff Breeders' Cup H. (G2) and the Interborough H.
