Godolphin trio preparing for Guineas engagement

Last updated: 4/14/08 6:05 PM

Godolphin galloped its three Guineas contenders at Nad Al Sheba on Monday and

reported IBN KHALDUN (Dubai Destination), RIO DE LA PLATA (Rahy) and FAST

COMPANY (Danehill Dancer) to be progressing nicely toward their early-season

targets.

While no decision has been made as to which of the trio will contest the

English Two Thousand Guineas (Eng-G1) at Newmarket on May 3 and the Poule

d'Essai des Poulains (French Two Thousand Guineas) (Fr-G1) at Longchamp eight

days later, trainer Saeed bin Suroor confirmed that two will run in the former

and the other will ship to France.

"It is likely we will run two at Newmarket and keep one for France and we

will delay our decision until we know what the ground will be like," bin Suroor

said. "Fast Company will not want very fast ground.

"We were pleased with all of them and that will put them spot on for

Newmarket," he added after watching Fast Company and Ted Durcan finish upsides

Ibn Khaldun and Kerrin McEvoy.

Frankie Dettori sent Rio de la Plata clear of his lead in a separate spin.
