Goffs February Sale set to begin

Last updated: 2/9/09 7:10 PM

Goffs will launch their February Sale, which has been reduced from four to

two days, on Tuesday, and the mixed offerings include yearlings, two-year-olds,

fillies out of training, breeding stock and two stallions. Among the most

impressive alumni are the top-class sprinter Balthazaar's Gift (Xaar) and last

year's Irish Derby (Ire-G1) hero Frozen Fire (Montjeu [Ire]), who represented

opposite ends of the buying spectrum when selling for €6,000 and €250,000,

respectively.

Heading the cast list is Hip No. 492, the 15-year-old mare Midnight Angel

(Machiavellian), who is best known as the dam of the 2007 Middle Park S.

(Eng-G1)winner and current sire Dark Angel and is consigned by Knockatrina

House.

First-cop sires include Araafa (Ire), Aussie Rules, Holy Roman Emperor and

Hurricane Run (Ire), while among the vendors of the horses in training are His

Highness the Aga Khan's Studs, John Oxx's Currabeg Stables, Darley and the Irish

National Stud.

"Goffs February Sale has been a market leader for a number of years and this

catalog should confirm that reputation once again as each section is packed full

of unrivalled quality," Goffs Chief Executive Henry Beeby commented.
