Goffs starts Friday

Last updated: 3/8/07 8:28 PM

All eyes will be focused on Kempton Park Friday as Goffs stages its inaugural

flat breeze-up sale, the first venture of the famous Irish bloodstock company

into the UK market. With near 100 two-year-olds set to breeze on the Polytrack

at the Surrey, England, venue, the catalog boasts representatives of leading sires Alhaarth, Fasliyev, Galileo (Ire), Green Desert, Gulch, Invincible Spirit

and Noverre.

Last year's Goffs Million race at The Curragh was an

unqualified success, and there is a contingent with a passport to this year's

renewal of that bonanza. It includes Hip No. 53, a Green Desert half-brother to

Group 3 winner Stonemason (Nureyev) out of a full sister to the sire River Deep from the draft

of Cathal Ryan's Swordlestown Stud; Sliabh Bawn Stables' Hip 36, a Galileo (Ire)

daughter of the smart Italian stakes winner Rosa delle Alpi (Royal Applause

[GB]) who reached 80,000

as a yearling; and Felstead Court's Hip 87, a Key of Luck colt from the

immediate family of the top-class German mares Diacada and Desidera.

Others to note include Edges Farm Stables' Hip 18, a Noverre half-brother to the

2001 Phoenix S. (Ire-G1) runner-up, Miss Beabea (Catrail), who is herself the

dam of last year's Moyglare Stud S. (Ire-G1) and Goffs Million heroine Miss Beatrix (Danehill

Dancer); and another

son of Noverre in Hip 25, a half to this year's listed-winning and

Group 2-placed filly Bahama Mama (Invincible Spirit) consigned by Mark Dywer's Oaks Farm

Stables.

There's also Suirview Stables' Hip 19, a colt by last year's leading

sire of juveniles Invincible Spirit out of a listed-winning half to Group 3

victress Catchascatchcan (GB); and Malcolm Bastard's Hip 71, a colt by Oasis Dream (GB)

from the immediate family of the smart stakes-placed La Conquistadora (Pivotal).

"This sale is an exciting initiative in the continuing development of Goffs

Bloodstock Sales," Goffs Chairman Eimear Mulhern said. "The sale will

strengthen Goffs' relationship with the British bloodstock industry and Kempton

is ideally located to cater for Goffs' international clients. We believe Kempton

Park is a racecourse which mirrors our ideals and vision for the future and we

look forward to a long and successful association with Kempton."

The under tack show will take place Friday morning with the sale set to begin

in the evening.
