Greater Good preps for Southwest

Last updated: 2/7/05 7:33 PM

Kentucky Jockey Club S. (G2) hero GREATER GOOD (Intidab) breezed five

furlongs in 1:02 1/5 under regular rider John McKee over a muddy track at Oaklawn Park on Monday.

The two-time stakes victor worked in company with stakes winner Kota (Indian Charlie), who

was timed in 1:02 4/5. Trained by Bob Holthus, Greater Good is scheduled to make

his three-year-old debut in the Southwest S. on February 19. Kota will make her

three-year-old bow two days later in the Martha Washington S.

"The track was dead, but Greater Good went great and galloped out strong,"

McKee said. "He came back like a good horse. I look forward to working him one

more time before the Southwest."

McKee was suspended seven calendar days, effective Monday, by the Oaklawn

stewards for "careless riding" in Friday's 9TH race, resulting in the

disqualification of the Holthus-trained Kickboard (Kingmambo) from second to

ninth.

Meanwhile, undefeated Remsen S. (G2) winner ROCKPORT HARBOR (Unbridled's

Song) galloped a mile over the off track with exercise rider Bobby Velez aboard.

The John Servis-trained sophomore is slated to work six furlongs, with jockey

Willie Martinez up, on Thursday.

"We still haven't made a final decision on the Southwest, but it's a long

shot," Servis said.
