Greeley's Legacy, Platinum Couple to run in Preakness
Two more horses -- GREELEY'S LEGACY (Mr. Greeley) and PLATINUM COUPLE (Tale of the Cat) -- are expected to be entered in Saturday's $1 million Preakness S. (G1). Trainer George Weaver confirmed Tuesday that Greeley's Legacy will run in the middle jewel of the Triple Crown. "We have a lot of respect for BARBARO (Dynaformer), BROTHER DEREK (Benchmark) and a couple of the other horses in there, but we want to take a shot," Weaver said. "We've got to step up to have a chance to win it, but we think he's ready to run a big one." Greeley's Legacy worked five furlongs in a bullet :58 3/5 at Belmont Park on Sunday. The dark bay colt most recently finished fourth in the Lexington S. (G2) on April 22 at Keeneland. Weaver said Jose Santos and Richard Migliore were candidates to ride Greeley's Legacy in the Preakness. Santos rode the colt in his first seven races. Greeley's Legacy will be the first Triple Crown starter for Weaver, a former assistant to Todd Pletcher. Damon Runyon S. winner Platinum Couple will also be entered in the Preakness, according to Glen Lostritto, one of four family members that comprise Team Tristar Stable. "He's fresh; he's doing well," Lostritto said. "You don't get a chance like this very often."

Platinum Couple most recently finished fifth in the Wood Memorial (G1) on
April 8 at Aqueduct.
"We had high hopes for the Wood, but the track was so sloppy," Lostritto
said. "We feel like we've got to take a chance."
The New York-bred breezed four furlongs in :51 1/5 at Belmont Park on Monday.
He was scheduled to arrive at Old Hilltop Tuesday evening.
Due to unrelenting rain in the New York area, a scheduled five-furlong
workout at Belmont Park for BERNARDINI (A.P. Indy) was postponed until
Wednesday.
"We're having a lot of rain, so he did a little jogging and loping around the
track," trainer Tom Albertrani said. "Hopefully, it'll clear up a bit and he'll
get to work tomorrow morning."
Bernardini will entered the Preakness off a solid, 3 3/4-length victory in
the Withers S. (G3) on April 29 at Aqueduct. The bay colt is scheduled to van to
Pimlico on Friday.
