Saturday's $300,000 Gulfstream Park H. (G2) marks the second start this year

for SUAVE (A.P. Indy), who struggled home a well-beaten sixth in the Donn H.

(G1) last time. The five-year-old caught a sloppy track that afternoon and tired

after dueling through fast early fractions, but he's eligible to bounce back

with a much improved showing here.

A fast track appears likely Saturday and Suave should appreciate the added

distance (1 3/16 miles). Two of his best efforts came at 10 furlongs last year,

a victory in the Saratoga Breeders' Cup H. (G2) and a second in the Jockey Club

Gold Cup (G1), and the five-year-old earned century-topping BRIS Speed ratings

in his last four starts in 2005, including a 113 for a fifth in the Breeders'

Cup Classic (G1) when he was beaten only three lengths. The Paul McGee trainee

is versatile enough to lead or rate, and there appears to be less early speed

here than in the Donn. Suave also won't have to face Brass Hat (Prized) or Magna

Graduate (Honor Grades). We'll look for him to keep the late runners at bay.

HARLINGTON (Unbridled), who had his Triple Crown hopes ended by an injury

early last year and didn't return to the races until December, is a dangerous

new face in the handicap division. Trainer Todd Pletcher has used an allowance

and an allowance/optional claiming event in preparation for the colt's return to

the stakes ranks, and the $2.8 million yearling purchase recorded easy wins both

times, registering superb Speed ratings of 104 and 105, respectively. Out of

champion Serena's Song, the once-beaten Harlington could prove to be tremendous

himself, but he still remains light on experience. The late-running colt may

have to settle for a minor award this time.

IT'S NO JOKE (Distorted Humor) is going well presently for Rebecca Maker,

recording a superb allowance victory over the track last time, but he's got to

stretch out in distance and step up in class here. The dark bay colt appears to

own plenty of talent, earning a 112 Speed rating last time, and he could make a

dent into the top three at decent odds. It's No Joke is very similar to

Harlington -- both up-and-coming four-year-olds look like they can develop into

top-class performers. The opportunity comes Saturday for them to prove it.

SUN KING (Charismatic) finished a disappointing third last time but could

show more with a start under his belt. We still worry that he might be a little

better at nine furlongs or less, but we'll include the classy Nick Zito trainee

in some exotics. Stablemate ANDROMEDA'S HERO (Fusaichi Pegasus) rallied to be a

good third in the Donn and will be running late here. The Belmont S. (G1)

runner-up shouldn't have any trouble with the distance, but his inconsistency

(only one win from his last 11, including six off-the-board finishes) is always

a concern as is the possible lack of pace.

We'd love to see FUNNY CIDE (Distorted Humor) run well but question whether

he can still deliver. The six-year-old gelding shrugged off several

disappointing performances with an improved second in an allowance/optional

claiming event, but we'll need to see more before recommending his chances.

CONTANTE (Arg) (Interprete) owns a decent late kick but hasn't shown that he

can be effective at this level in the United States. WHOS CRYING NOW (Concerto)

exits a commendable second to Lava Man (Slew City Slew) at Santa Anita, but his

Speed ratings are lower than his top rivals and the distance doesn't look like a

good fit.
