Champion HALFBRIDLED (Unbridled) has been retired. The

three-year-old filly earned nearly $1 million during her short

but outstanding racing career, compiling a mark of 6-4-2-0,

$959,400.

Unbeaten from four starts in 2003, the Wertheimer Farm

homebred capped a championship season with an impressive 2

1/2-length victory in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1).

Plagued by minor physical problems this year, Halfbridled raced

only twice at three for trainer Richard Manedella, finishing

second in both the Santa Anita Oaks (G1) and Beaumont S. (G2).

The first foal from the winning Deputy Minister mare Half

Queen, Halfbridled has been sent to Kentucky to begin her career

as a broodmare.
