Happy Ticket invades Del Mar

Last updated: 8/3/06 8:48 PM

Grade 1 winner HAPPY TICKET (Anet), perhaps the best Louisiana-bred

Thoroughbred of modern times, tops a field of six distaffers entered to Sunday's

$300,000 Clement L. Hirsch H. (G2) at Del Mar. Trainer Andrew Leggio Jr. will be

saddling his first runner at the seaside oval, and Happy Ticket will be making

her first appearance in the Golden State. The 120-pound highweight recorded a

game win in the Fleur de Lis H. (G2) at Churchill Downs most recently, and

apprentice Julien Leparoux, who leads the nation by wins and picked up the mount

aboard Happy Ticket in her last outing, will also travel out west with the

five-year-old mare.

HOLLYWOOD STORY (Wild Rush), who enters the 1 1/16-mile Hirsch off a

half-length score in the Vanity Invitational H. (G1) at Hollywood Park, will

tote 119 pounds, including David Flores. A multiple Grade 1 winner, the John

Shirreffs-trained mare is one of three millionaires in the field along with

Happy Ticket and STAR PARADE (Arg) (Parade Marshal).

Unraced since a close second in the Milady Breeders' Cup H. (G2) in early

June, Star Parade was scratched at the gate in the Vanity after kicking the

stall. The three-time Grade 1 heroine has worked well since then for Darrell

Vienna, and regular rider Martin Pedroza has the call on the seven-year-old.

SOMETHINABOUTLAURA (Dance Floor) and MARYFIELD (Elusive Quality), who were

separated by only a nose when finishing one-two, respectively, in the A Gleam

Invitational H. (G2) in early July, and Santa Margarita Invitational H. (G1)

victress HEALTHY ADDICTION (Boston Harbor), runner-up in the Vanity, round out the field.

In order of post positions, the contestants are Maryfield, Martin Garcia,

114; Healthy Addiction, Victor Espinoza, 118; Star Parade, 118;

Somethinaboutlaura, Alex Solis, 115; Happy Ticket; and Hollywood Story.
