Henrythenavigator retired to Ashford Stud

Multiple Group 1 hero HENRYTHENAVIGATOR (Kingmambo) has been retired to

Ashford Stud near Versailles, Kentucky, it was announced Wednesday.

Trained by Aidan O'Brien, Henrythenavigator landed his maiden debut going seven furlongs by seven lengths

in 2007. A drop

back to six furlongs for the Coventry S. (Eng-G2) at Royal Ascot followed and he

defeated 19 opponents to win in record time.

This spring in the English Two Thousand Guineas (Eng-G1) at Newmarket, the

dark bay was the only one capable of matching strides with champion New

Approach, proving best by a nose over that rival with Raven's Pass (Elusive

Quality) finishing fourth. A rematch with New Approach in the Irish Two

Thousand Guineas (Ire-G1) three weeks later saw Henrythenavigator win much more

easily.

Henrythenavigator stuck to a mile when capturing the St. James's Palace S.

(Eng-G1), also in record time, and the Sussex S. (Eng-G1), on both occasions

beating subsequent Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) winner Raven's Pass.

In his final start on Saturday, Henrythenavigator showed his liking for a

synthetic surface when he ran second to Raven's Pass in the Breeders' Cup

Classic, just 1 3/4 lengths back.

Henrythenavigator is out of Irish highweight and Group 1 winner Sequoyah

(Sadler's Wells), making him a full sibling to Group 3 victress Queen Cleopatra.

The 10-year-old Sequoyah is herself a full sister to fellow Irish highweight and

Group 1 heroine Listen.

"It's great to have a horse of Henrythenavigator's class and bloodlines

retiring here," Ashford Stud Manager Dermot Ryan said. "Twice he won in record

time at Royal Ascot, twice he beat Epsom Derby (Eng-G1) winner New Approach,

three times he beat Raven's Pass and four times he won at Group 1 level. He is

also rated an even better miler than his sire Kingmambo and is out of a Group 1

winning two-year-old by Sadler's Wells. His conformation is excellent too so

basically he's the complete package."

Henrythenavigator is now available for inspection and his fee will be

announced at a later date.
