IMAWILDANDCRAZYGUY (Wild Event), who finished a closing fourth in the

Kentucky Derby (G1), breezed one mile in 1:47 3/5 under jockey Juan Leyva at

Calder on Friday in preparation for the $1 million Belmont S. (G1) on June 9.

"He went real easy the first part and we let him roll down the stretch,"

trainer Bill Kaplan said. "I got him in :23 3/5 through the stretch. I'm very

pleased with the work. He went beautifully."

Imawildandcrazyguy rallied from last in the Derby, finishing 8 1/2 lengths

behind STREET SENSE (Street Cry [Ire]). The gray gelding, who finished second in

the Risen Star S. (G3) at Fair Grounds in his seasonal debut, did not run in the

Preakness S. (G1).

Mark Guidry, who rode Imawildandcrazyguy in the Derby, will retain the mount

for the Belmont.

Kentucky Derby runner-up and Preakness third HARD SPUN (Danzig) is doing well

and is on target for the Belmont, according to trainer Larry Jones.

"Everything's going as well as it could," Jones said from his Delaware Park

base. "Today was his third day back to the track. He galloped a mile and a half

and jogged three furlongs."

Jones stopped short of saying Hard Spun would definitely run in the Belmont

and plans to make an announcement in the coming days.

"We'll wait until the weekend to make a firm decision," the conditioner said.

Mario Pino rode Hard Spun in the Kentucky Derby and Preakness.

In other Belmont news:

Despite impressively winning the Barbaro S. on the Preakness undercard,

CHELOKEE (Cherokee Run) is unlikely to run in the Belmont, according to trainer

Michael Matz.

"He's been back galloping the last couple of days and looks good, but I don't

think we're going to run," Matz said.

The presence of Preakness winner CURLIN (Smart Strike) and Hard Spun in the

139th edition of the Belmont, along with the possibility of Street Sense in the

line-up, is leading Matz to pick another spot.

"There's still a lot of racing to go this year and I want to try and keep

this horse going the right way," Matz said.
