Indian Charlie colt attracts winning bid of $400,000
Hip No. 2248, a colt by Indian Charlie from the Mulholland Springs consignment, was the top seller at Monday's session of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale, going to Hoods Up Stable for $400,000. The dark bay is the second registered foal from the Touch Gold mare Touched. The colt's second dam, stakes victress Bay Barrister (Miswaki), is a half-sister to stakes queen and Grade 2-placed Go to the Ink (Crafty Prospector), as well as multiple stakes winner Pas by Pas (Crafty Prospector). Other notable family members include Grade 3 scorers Four Flings (Quadratic) and Rugged Bugger (Assert [Ire]). A colt from the first crop of multiple Grade 1 winner and $1.8 million earner Southern Image brought $290,000 to rank as the day's next most expensive yearling. Purchased by Third Street Stable, Hip 2439 was offered by Summerfield (Francis and Barbara Vanlangendonck), agent. The dark bay colt is a half-brother to current juvenile Kelly Leak (Runaway Groom), who finished first in the August 10 Best Pal S. (G2) but was disqualified and placed fourth, and to Grade 3 hero Dr. Park (Honor Grades). He was produced by the winning Hasty Appeal (World Appeal) and hails from the family of Canadian champion two-year-old male Truth of It All (Proud Truth), multiple Grade 1 heroine I Ain't Bluffing (Pine Bluff) and multiple Grade 1 star and $2 million earner Borrego (El Prado [Ire]).

stakes heroine Chitka (Jade Hunter), who is herself a half-sister to stakes
winner Houseofroyalhearts (Chester House) and Grade 3-placed Royal Affirmed
(Affirmed). Chitka is closely related to Grade 2 queen and stakes producer Jade
Flush (Jade Hunter). The youngster's third dam is the unraced Royal Strait Flush
(Seattle Slew), a full sister to undefeated champion Landaluce. The filly was
consigned by Eaton Sales, agent.
