Eleven horses were entered for Sunday's $100,000 Inglewood H. (G3) at

Hollywood Park, but only 10 are expected to line up in the 1 1/16-mile turf

affair. MONTEREY JAZZ (Thunderello) is likely to be scratched in favor of

Saturday's San Francisco Mile (G2) at Golden Gate Fields, which should offer

this race up to COMPARI (Redattore [Brz]) on a silver platter. Like others in

here, Monterey Jazz looked to offer up nothing more than a mild challenge, and

Compari appeared quite capable of handling anything thrown his way. The Martin

Jones trainee owns just one loss from seven career starts, with that coming in

his racing debut, and he was a game winner of the Arcadia H. (G2) last out. Compari has gone a distance of ground on the Cushion Track, and should be able

to handle the stretch out on turf as well. We expect the four-year-old gelding

to lead all the way to the wire under Garrett Gomez.

GREAT SIEGE (Ire) (Rock of Gibraltar) made his stakes debut in the San

Gabriel H. (G2) in December, and rallied to take fourth just 1 1/2 lengths

behind the winner. The David Hofmans runner actually missed third by just a

nose, and could come with a powerful enough late run to grab the runner-up spot

here. The bay gelding won going a mile over this course in December and has

posted decent efforts in his two starts this season, finishing third and second

most recently while stretching out to nine furlongs. Victor Espinoza has the

call on the five-year-old.

DARK ISLANDER (Ire) (Singspiel [Ire]) has yet to earn a win stateside and,

while we don't expect him to score in this spot, the Neil Drysdale charge could

find a place in the top three at a good price. The bay seven-year-old earned a

nice 102 BRIS Speed rating for a runner-up effort going a mile on Santa Anita's

turf in his return off a six-month break most recently, and probably needed that

tightener. Joel Rosario was aboard for that race and retains the mount here.

ACCLAMATION (Unusual Heat) was a game competitor last year, but didn't do so

well when returning to the turf last out in the Frank E. Kilroe Mile H. (G1),

finishing last of nine. The Donald Warren-conditioned four-year-old may have

been feeling the effects of a long season with no significant break, and returns

here off a 50-day vacation. If rested enough, the bay colt could stick around

late in the exotics at long odds. RED ALERT DAY (GB) (Diktat) was fifth by only

two lengths in the Kilroe Mile two back, then ran fourth in a one-mile allowance

last out. The five-year-old gelding has run third in two of his three attempts

on Hollywood's turf and could fill that spot once again here.

GLOWING PRAISE (GB) (Fantastic Light) will be making just his third start

stateside here and will probably enjoy a return to the grass. He ran a close

fourth against allowance/optional claiming rivals in his U.S. debut in February,

but didn't take to the synthetic Pro-Ride when switched last out, finishing last

of eight. The Eoin Harty charge should be close on this day and might even

complete the gimmicks. LEASE OF LIFE (Cozzene) beat Glowing Praise in that

allowance/optional claimer, then ran a one-paced seventh in the San Luis Rey H.

(G2) last out. He might earn a check.

GALLANT SON (Malabar Gold) ran second in the Sir Beaufort S. (G3) in

December, but is too inconsistent for us to back with any confidence. We'll let

him beat us. QUINDICI MAN (Came Home) doesn't appear fast enough to challenge

here. Claimer RUMMYSECRET WAR (Sea of Secrets) is making his stakes debut in

this spot and looks out of his class.
