Italian mixed sale set to begin

Last updated: 11/14/08 7:04 PM

Societa Gestione Aste (SGA) hosts its one-day November Sale at the Settimo

Milanese complex in Milan Saturday, with the usual mixture of horses in

training, breeding stock, yearlings and foals on offer.

Among the former category and a candidate for overall sale highlight is Hip

No. 83, the dual stakes-winning three-year-old filly ROSA DEL DUBAI (Dubai

Destination). Sent up from the Bruno Grizzetti stable, she was successful at the

local San Siro track in this year's Premio Mario Incisa Della Rocchetta (Ity-G3)

and Premio Alberto Zanoletti.

Continuing the list of stakes-winning fillies on offer is Hip 89, BIZ BAR

(Tobougg [Ire]). Selling out of Maurizio Guarnieri's barn, the four-year-old

earned her black-type rosette with victory in the 2006 Criterium Femminile.

Another stakes winner crops up earlier in the session when conditioner Valfredo

Valiani consigns COCKAYNE (Barathea [Ire]). Offered as Hip 56, the five-year-old

distaffer bagged a career high in last December's Premio Andred at Pisa, where

she defeated the aforementioned Biz Bar into second.

Of the breeding stock catalogued, Societa Al Besnate's Hip 52, the

10-year-old mare TANKARAMA (Muhtarram), is one of the stand outs. Offered in

foal to Ekraar, she claimed her stakes badge with victory in the 2001 Premio

Baggio before running sixth in that year's Oaks d'Italia (Ity-G1) where Rosa di

Brema (Lomitas [GB]), the dam of Rosa del Dubai, finished second.
