Jacinto involved in spill at Fair Grounds
Jockey John Jacinto sustained an
apparent shoulder injury when he was thrown from his mount in Saturday's
10TH race at Fair Grounds. Jacinto was aboard first-time starter All Boy (Storm
Day) when he was thrown under
the rail just inside the sixteenth-pole. He was taken from the track on
a stretcher and transported to Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans for X-rays after
complaining of pain in his shoulder.
Jacinto, 31, was born in Lima, Peru, but moved to the United States in
1999. Through Saturday, he ranks tied for fifth in Fair Grounds' jockey
standings with 30 wins. He won his 1,000th career race in September at
Louisiana Downs.
All Boy was euthanized with an injury to his right front leg.
