Del Mar's annual fall turf festival kicks off Friday with the Hollywood Turf Cup (G2), but really picks up steam Saturday with a trio of graded stakes headed by the $300,000 Hollywood Derby (G1).

Much of the pre-race discussion going into Saturday’s Seabiscuit (G2) focused on Redistricting, but it was another on the comeback trail, Mi Hermano Ramon, who stole the show at Del Mar.  

Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners’ Speaking Scout was collared late in the Oct. 29 Twilight Derby (G2), but in Saturday’s Hollywood Derby (G1), he was the one pouncing in the final strides.

Favorites were overturned in all three stakes at Del Mar Saturday, with the biggest upset furnished by the 10.90-1 Beyond Brilliant in the $404,500 Hollywood Derby (G1).
