Last year's Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf (G1) heroine MIDDAY (GB) (Oasis

Dream [GB]), who bagged last week's Yorkshire Oaks (Eng-G1), remains on

course to defend her Breeders' Cup title, it was announced Monday. Juddmonte

Farms' homebred bay registered her fourth win at the highest level at York and

connections are also toying with the idea of preparing for her Churchill Downs

test with a foray in France beforehand.

"We've decided Midday will head for the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf, but

whether she'll run again before then has not totally been established," racing

manager Teddy Grimthorpe told PA Sport. "We'll see how she goes over the next

couple of weeks, but, at this stage, I would think the Prix Vermeille ([Fr-G1]

at Longchamp September 12) would be more likely than the Prix de l'Opera

([Fr-G1] also at Longchamp October 3). The Breeders' Cup is her main objective."

Meanwhile, TWICE OVER (GB) (Observatory) is to defend his title in the

Champion S. (Eng-G1) at Newmarket October 16. Registering a first win at the

highest level in last year's renewal, he has subsequently added to that tally in

the July 3 Eclipse S. (Eng-G1), and also finished second in the June 16 Prince

of Wales's S. (Eng-G1) at Royal Ascot and last week's Juddmonte International at

York (Eng-G1).

"Twice Over seems to have taken the race (at York) very well, and he'll

probably head back to the Champion S.," Grimthorpe said.

Andre Fabre trainee BYWORD (Peintre Celebre), winner of the June 16 Prince of

Wales's S. (Eng-G1) at Royal Ascot, is a possible contender for the October 3

Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Fr-G1) at Longchamp. The bay homebred was a close

third in the Juddmonte International and is set to contest a traditional Arc

trial in order to determine his credentials for the first Sunday in October.

"Byword ran a good race at York and seems to have taken it well," Grimthorpe

said. "He could now go for an Arc trial and we are considering the Prix Foy

([Fr-G2] at Longchamp September 12). We can then make a decision on him

thereafter.

"He's by Peintre Celebre who won an Arc, so he's got one half of it covered

on the stamina front. He's quite a versatile horse as he's won the Prix du

Muguet (Fr-G2) over a mile this year. He's got plenty of speed, but I don't see

any reason why he wouldn't stay the mile and a half."
