Brisk trade continued at Keeneland on Tuesday when gross sales of

$212,021,900 through nine sessions of the 12-day November Breeding Stock Sale

exceeded total sales of $205,899,500 posted during last year's entire 11-day

auction. Gains on Tuesday were driven by the strong sale of racing or stallion

prospects, led by Dennis O'Neill's purchase of stakes winner DONWORTH for

$550,000.

On Tuesday, Keeneland sold 243 horses for $6,844,900, up 64.3 percent from

the ninth session in 2014 when total sales reached $4,165,200 for 242 horses

sold. The average of $28,168 increased 63.7 percent from last year's $17,212,

and the median of $15,000 rose 25 percent from $12,000 in 2014.

To date, Keeneland has sold 1,958 horses for $212,021,900, a 5 percent

increase from $201,912,600 grossed for 2,092 horses during the corresponding

period in 2014. The average of $108,285 is 12.2 percent above last year's

$96,517, while the median of $45,000 equals last year.

Donworth, a three-year-old son of Tiznow out of the Grade 1-placed Street Cry

mare Temple Street, was consigned as a racing or stallion prospect by Three

Chimneys Farm, agent for the Complete Dispersal of Regis Farms. In his most

recent race, on June 20 at Delaware Park, Donworth won the Stanton S. by 11

lengths. He was second in Keeneland's Lexington (G3) in April.

"He's a very exciting horse and a rising star," Three Chimneys Chief

Commercial Officer Case Clay said. "He won (his last race) by 11 lengths and is

graded stakes-placed. That (price) was about where we thought because there was

a lot of interest."

Selling to Eclipse Thoroughbreds for $335,000 was the winning three-year-old

Tapit colt COWBOY RHYTHM, who was consigned by WinStar Racing, agent. Cowboy

Rhythm, who scored his first victory October 18 at Keeneland, is out of the

stakes-winning Gone West mare West Coast Swing.

Ben McElroy, agent, paid $200,000 for the session's top-priced racing or

broodmare prospect, CHANTELINE, a winning three-year-old daughter of

Majesticperfection consigned by Three Chimneys Farm, agent for the Complete

Dispersal of Regis Farms. Out of the Indian Charlie mare Listen to Libby,

Chanteline is from the family of Grade 1 winner Currency Swap, Grade 3 winner

You'renotlistening and stakes winner Your Bluffing.

At $105,000, the session's highest-priced weanling is the colt from the first

crop of Preakness (G1) winner Oxbow sold to John Stuart. Fairlawn Farm consigned

the colt, who is out of the stakes-winning Air Forbes Won mare Art Fair.

The November Sale continues through Friday. Sessions start at 10 a.m. (EST). The

entire sale is streamed live at keeneland.com.
