Edited Press Release
Kentucky Derby (G1) and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) winner Nyquist, who stands at Darley in Lexington, Kentucky, is doing well following colic surgery Wednesday at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute.
Darley COO Dan Pride said: “The surgeons discovered a slight twist in his intestines during the procedure and were able to make the necessary repairs without complication. At this point, we are confident that he will be fully recovered and ready for the 2017 breeding season."
Nyquist will stand his first season at stud in 2017 following a racing career in which he won eight of 11 starts while earning over $5.1 million. He became the first two-year-old champion to win the Kentucky Derby while undefeated since Triple Crown winner Seattle Slew.
