KHC to host Horsemen's Regional Caucuses in August

The Kentucky Horse Council (KHC) on Friday announced new

Horsemen's Regional Caucuses to inspire networking, communication and education

for Kentucky's horsemen and horsewomen across the Commonwealth.

Each caucus will include a meal and an evening of discussions about horse issues

and activities in the area. The results of the 2012 Kentucky Equine Survey will

be presented, with specific county figures. Kentucky Horse Council board members

will update horsemen on KHC projects and request input from horsemen on

additional ideas that are specific to their areas. Local and state officials

will be invited to meet the horsemen in their areas, and to understand the horse

industry in the region.

The first two caucuses will be in the regions surrounding Hardin and Boyle

counties.

The Hardin Regional Caucus will include horsemen from Meade, Breckenridge,

Larue, Grayson and Hart counties, as well as Hardin county horsemen. This caucus

is scheduled for August 21 at the Hardin County Extension Office.

The event and meal will start at 6 p.m. (EDT).

The Boyle Region Caucus will include horsemen from Anderson, Washington, Marion,

Mercer, Garrard and Lincoln counties, as well as Boyle county horsemen. This

caucus is scheduled for August 22 at the Boyle County Extension

Office. The event and meal will also start at 6 p.m.

"The Kentucky Horse Council's mission is to support and educate all horsemen in

Kentucky," explained Anna Zinkhon, president of the KHC board. "These caucuses

allow us to talk directly to horsemen from all breeds and uses across the

Commonwealth, to make sure that we understand their needs, and also to let them

know about KHC's current programs.

"We also believe in the importance of involving local and state

elected officials. The equine industry needs to continue to emphasize the

importance and size of this industry all across the Commonwealth. The KHC board

is looking forward to these caucuses to provide us ideas for planning projects

for 2014 and beyond."

There is no charge to attend these caucuses, but

registration is requested to

estimate the number of meals and handouts. Additional caucuses to cover all

regions of the Commonwealth will be scheduled throughout the remainder of 2013

and into 2014.
