A colt by Langfuhr, who is a half-brother to Fountain of Youth S. (G2) winner

Cool Coal Man (Mineshaft), breezed an eighth-mile in a world-record-equaling time of

:9 3/5 during Monday's under tack preview for the Keeneland April Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale,

which will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday evening, beginning at 7 p.m.

(EDT).

Cataloged as Hip No. 7, the gray colt is out of the winning Rubiano mare

Coral Sea, who also produced current stakes winner Kathleens Reel (Lemon Drop

Kid). The 13-year-old mare is a three-quarter sister to multiple Grade 3 winner and

$429,108-earner Signal Tap (Fappiano), and the dam of stakes winners Destiny Calls (With

Approval) and You'llbeinmyheart (Broad Brush). This is the same female family as

English and Irish champion Storm Bird (Northern Dancer).

Cool Coal Man is expected to make his final start before the May 3 Kentucky

Derby (G1) in Saturday's $750,000 Blue Grass S. (G1).

The record-equaling colt is consigned by Niall Brennan

Stables, agent. He previously sold for $135,000 at the 2007 Keeneland September

Yearling Sale.

Six juveniles breezed an eighth-mile in :9 4/5. They were: Hip 99, a filly by

Scrimshaw out of Christmas Rose (Private Terms), consigned by Leprechaun Racing,

agent; Hip 101, a colt by Seattle Fitz (Arg) out of Cometuseibella (Pentelicus),

consigned by Scanlon Training Center, agent; Hip 149, a colt by Officer out of

Push Her (Devil His Due), consigned by Wavertree Stables, agent; Hip 155, a

filly by More Than Ready out of Riverboat Miss (Storm Cat), consigned by Eddie

Woods, agent; Hip 163, a filly by Cat Dreams out of Siphonophora (Siphon [Brz]),

consigned by Jon Jazdzewski, agent for Patience Jazdzewski and Susan Dare; and

Hip 184, a filly by Speightstown out of Balancing Act (Spectacular Bid),

consigned by Niall Brennan Stables, agent.

Two colts tied for the fastest quarter-mile, getting the distance in :20 2/5

on Keeneland's Polytrack.

Hip 45, a colt by Aldebaran, is a full brother to Santa Ysabel S. (G3)

runner-up and Alcibiades S. (G1) third Grace Anatomy. The bay colt is the second

foal out of Propriety (Storm Cat), a half-sister to the dam of Grade 2 winner

Diabolical (Artax), and a daughter of Grade 1 heroine Plenty of Grace (Roberto).

He is consigned by Kirkwood Stables, agent.

Hip 190, a colt by Forestry, is out of 1996 Astarita S. (G2) queen Broad

Dynamite (Broad Brush), who is the dam of stakes-placed Santa Croce (Saint

Ballado) and the granddam of stakes-placed Star Defender (Vindication). His

third dam, Never Scheme (Never Bend), produced 1987 Breeders' Cup Sprint S. (G1)

victress Very Subtle (Hoist the Silver). He is consigned by McKathan Brothers,

agent.

"This Preview Day was one of our best attended ever," said Geoffrey Russell, Keeneland's director of sales. "Perhaps the proximity of the sale to Toyota Blue

Grass week made it more convenient for a number of prominent owners and trainers

to be on hand today."

Last year's April sale produced a number of prominent alumni, including the

undefeated Big Brown (Boundary), who became a leading Kentucky Derby contender

with his dominating victory in the March 29 Florida Derby (G1). Big Brown was purchased for $190,000 by Hidden Brook, as agent for co-owner Paul Pompa Jr., from the consignment of Eddie Woods, agent.
