Monday's Memorial Day H. (G3) at Calder features a field of eight going 8 1/2

furlongs on the main track, and we'll give the advantage to HEAR NO EVIL (Carson

City), who returns to the main track for conditioner Larry Pilotti. A two-time

stakes winner at Calder, the five-year-old chestnut is the quickest member of

the field and shouldn't face much pressure on the front end. Winner of an about

1 1/8-mile grassy stakes race at Tampa Bay Downs last out, Hear No Evil looks

fit and should lead wire to wire.

DEMETEOR (Dehere) returns to the main track for trainer Kenneth Hoffman and

figures to sit a good trip with his tactical speed. A three-time winner on the

local dirt, the six-year-old gelding has worked forwardly for his return off a

72-day rest and has run well fresh in the past.

TWILIGHT ROAD (Cahill Road) is the defending champion, winning last year's

Memorial Day by 5 1/4 lengths, but he could be a little vulnerable here. The

late runner doesn't figure to have much pace in front, but the eight-year-old

gelding is very honest and could easily grab a piece of the exotics.

WHOS CRYING NOW (Concerto) enters off a pair of runner-up finishes and

appears to have improved at five for Manny Tortora. The dark bay gelding is

still unproven at the graded level, but we'll use him on the bottom of some

gimmicks. RUNNINTOTHEALTER (Conquistador Cielo) makes his stakes bow off a

couple of turf allowance victories. The improving four-year-old could add to the

early pace and merits consideration for the top three given his good present

form.

BUILT UP (Homebuilder) owns some back class, but his recent form is too

discouraging for us to recommend. BIBLICAL SCHOLAR (Line in the Sand) owns a

couple of victories this year but probably won't be a factor here. FLIRT WITH FORTUNE

(Touch Gold) doesn't look fast enough to challenge.
