Mermaid Island tops Goffs Tuesday session
Goffs' February Mixed Sale got underway at the company's Kill complex Tuesday
morning, with the four-year-old filly Mermaid Island (Mujadil) proving the
session topper at 110,000. Offered as Hip No. 21 from trainer Dermot Weld's
Rosewell House, the listed place-getter and daughter of champion older mare
Caumshinaun (Indian Ridge) was knocked down to British-based agent John McGrath.
She was the day's only six-figure transaction.
The aggregate advanced more than 9 percent on last year, while a greatly
improved clearance rate boosted the average by a similar margin to 7,721.
Selling continues with the first of two yearling sessions Wednesday.
