MJC reveals 2010 Preakness logo
The Maryland Jockey Club (MJC) on Thursday unveiled the 2010 Preakness logo for the 135th running of the $1 million Preakness S. (G1), the middle jewel of the Triple Crown, which is set for May 15, 2010, at Pimlico Race Course.
"The Preakness remains a beloved and iconic tradition in Maryland," said Tom Chuckas, president and chief operating officer of the Maryland Jockey Club. "We look forward all year to the third Saturday in May. It is truly the People's Race...the People's Party, a great day of celebration for the Maryland Jockey Club, Thoroughbred racing and Preakness fans worldwide." |
For the 11th consecutive year, the Leffler Agency of Baltimore and Tampa
designed the official Preakness logo. Four times this decade their Preakness
designs have won major national awards for the agency.
The 2010 logo proudly proclaims "Preakness" with three jaunty race horses and
jockeys racing across the text. The font for the "Preakness" is somewhat
traditional, but by presenting the text in upper and lower case, a fresh,
friendly feel is given to a traditional serif type face. The three horses that
sprint along the top of the logo have been illustrated to look clean, vigorous
and modern. Vivid red, black and gold colors from the Maryland flag, on a stark
white background, add to the visual impact of the 2010 logo. In the subtext
below "Preakness", a festive Black-Eyed Susan sprouts out between date, venue
and city.
Tickets for the 2010 Preakness will go on sale October 1. Seating information
and ticket reservation forms will be found on www.preakness.com. Tickets can be
purchased by calling the Preakness sales office at 410-542-9400 or 877-206-8042,
