Trade stepped down a level at Tattersalls' October Sale (Part 2) Thursday with

two 100,000gns

lots sharing top billing on the third day of action. The National Stud's

315-member Never Say

Die Club consigned the first of the pair: a Montjeu (Ire) colt knocked down to

Charlie

Gordon-Watson, with Tim Corby the underbidder. Lot No. 1377, out of the

Machiavellian mare

Marciala, was purchased in utero for 46,000gns at the 2004 December Sale.

"He's been

bought for a new client of mine to go to Michael Jarvis," Gordon-Watson

said.

"He was just a

really good athlete by the right sire."

A Compton Place half-sister to

recent stakes-winning

juvenile Dubai's Touch (Dr Fong) and Group 3-placed Nobelist (Bering [GB]) and Wannabe

Around

(Primo Dominie) also made 100,000gns. Agent Geoffrey Howson outbid Michael Donohoe of BBA

Ireland

for the Caherass Stud offering. Out of Noble Peregrine (Lomond), Lot 1407

was a

28,000gns foal purchase.

"She's been bought for an American client and will go

into training in

Ireland," said Howson. "I saw her over the summer and she has a lovely

temperament. Obviously,

we are hoping for the best from Dubai's Touch, and the idea is definitely to

breed from her

eventually."

At the conclusion of Thursday's session, a total of 181 lots sold

for an aggregate of 4,249,700gns, with average topping out at 23,479gns. The

sale continues Friday.
